This year the Panthers are convinced they are due for a change of luck after their injury-prone season in 2015. They should manage to field their strongest lineup for the bulk of the season and are also convinced that they can make a significant impact on the competition. The club has built on an impressive roster with the acquisition of Test forward Trent Merrin from St George Illawarra, New Zealand internationals Suaia Matagi (Sydney Roosters) and Peta Hiku (Manly Warringah), along with French Test forward Ben Garcia (Catalans). The newcomers will slot in alongside some of the game’s brightest young talent, including fullback Matt Moylan, wingers Dallin Watene-Zelezniak and Josh Mansour, ball players Bryce Cartwright and Tyrone Peachey, popular hooker James Segeyaro and rookie prop Reagan Campbell-Gillard.

Experienced halves Peter Wallace and Jamie Soward will also guide the young outfit, while incoming coach Anthony Griffin will offer a fresh approach and new ideas. The Panthers will again take a home game to Bathurst (where they will play the Raiders in Round 9), while another home game will be transferred to AMI Stadium in Christchurch (against the Warriors in Round 10). Griffin’s Panthers will launch their season against the Canberra Raiders at GIO Stadium.
