The Bulldogs have proven to be among the most progressive and successful clubs of the past decade and invariably they have figured in finals series calculations. Since Des Hasler arrived as coach in 2012, the Bulldogs have qualified for the play-offs each year and twice made it as far as the grand final. It is a club where competitive spirit and an expectation of high achievement are ingrained in the Belmore woodwork.

Long-serving second-rower Frank Pritchard, Blues State of Origin halfback Trent Hodkinson and centre Tim Lafai might have moved on at the end of 2015 but Hasler has every confidence in the line-up that will carry the club’s colours into the new season. The major acquisition for 2016 is Parramatta fullback or centre William Hopoate while Hasler is counting that an investment in young talent, including Brad Abbey (Warriors), Craig Garvey (St George Illawarra) and Kerrod Holland (Newcastle), will reap a profitable return.

Hasler has the talented utility Moses Mbye as first choice halfback in 2016. The Bulldogs will again possess quality and strength in the forwards, with Sam Kasiano, James Graham, Tony Williams, Josh Jackson, Greg Eastwood and David Klemmer all boasting international class. The Bulldogs’ return to their spiritual home at Belmore Sports Ground proved a runaway success in 2015 and they will play two games at the ground again in 2016. They will open their season against Sea Eagles at Brookvale.
